  2. Contained in the Group D MSS, 1566 printed acts and the Lambeth MS. The following MSS and printed text have been used: PA5/6(2) (Robertson, Parliamentary Records, 63-4) (main MS); PA5/6(1) (Robertson, Parliamentary Records, 16-17); Drummond MS, f.235v-236v; Lambeth MS, f.198r-v (included with acts dated to March 1426), 200v-201v (included with acts dated by Lambeth 13 March 1427, and by other MSS to March 1426); Colville MS, f.266r-267r; Fort Augustus, f.201r-202r; 1566 acts, f.12r-13r. Note the alternate version of acts 1427/3/2, 1427/3/4 provided by Lambeth may represent phraseology dating from the versions of acts existing before the Group D editing commission. Lambeth differs in a number of significant other regards, albeit its dating has not been favoured here. Back
  3. The dating difficulties for the parliaments of 1426 to 1427 continue. PA5/6(2), PA5/6(1), the Drummond MS and the 1566 acts date the acts to 1 July 1426, but give the regnal year as the twenty-second of James I's reign (ie 1427). Colville dates the parliament to 1427 (presumably because the scribe silently corrected his source). Malcolm dates the parliament to 6 July 1426, Fort Augustus to 11 July 1426. Two facts indicate strongly that 1427 is the correct date. First, 1 July fell on a Tuesday in 1427, as the preamble indicates. Second, act 1426/33 relates the continuations and sessions of parliament in 1426, but mentions no July session. Back
