  2. The evidence for these documents arising from a parliament comes from other sources. The English Wardrobe Book for 1289-90 records fees made by William of Blyborough on his way 'ad parliamentum Scotie mense Februarii pro negociis regis' (Richardson and Sayles, 'The Scottish parliaments of Edward I', SHR, xxv (1928), 302 and n.) Stevenson, Documents Illustrative of the History of Scotland, i, no. 87, records the request of sheriff of Northampton, dated by Stevenson to around February 1290, for a safe conduct from the Scottish guardians to visit Scotland, and that no complaints or causes be heard 'ante proximum parliament'. It therefore seems that the sheriff was visiting Scotland for the Birgham parliament. Back
