3Item, it is statute and ordanit for the commoune wele of the realme, because the bying and havying of Inglis horsis in daynte is the caus that the studis and stude placez of Scotland are lychtlit unplenist and the horsis growin small, that, therfor, na man of this realme by ony Inglis horsis furth of the realme of Ingland for money or be bartouring with uther stuff, sick as nolt, schepe, horsis, vittalis or uther cattell, under the pane of tynsale of the horsis to the kingis grace or the price of him gif he happynnis to be deid, sauld or utherwayis put away,4 and that all maner of personis havand studis and stude placez within this realme mak the samin to be plenist with stude, stude meris and gret stallionis for furnessing of horsis to all maner of personis within the realme.
