Item, it is ordanit that albeit ane gratitude is grantit to the kingis grace be the thre estatis of his realme for supportatioune of sik necessar erandis as his grace hes ado, that na exactioune be maid upoune the tennentis, laubouraris of the ground,2 for payment of the said contributioune or ony part therof under the pane to be callit therfor as commoune oppressouris of the kingis liegis at privat diettis and justice courtis or at generale justice aris as it plesis the kingis grace best; and that lettres be directed to mak intimatioune to all oure soverane lordis liegis at burrowis and schirefdomes at places convenient hereof, and that the justice clerk cause diligent inquisitioune to be maid and tak dittay herupoune.
