The parliament of the most excellent prince and lord, James V, most illustrious king of Scots, held and begun at Edinburgh on 3 December 1540 by the most reverend and reverend fathers in Christ David [Beaton], cardinal, archbishop of St Andrews, Gavin [Dunbar], archbishop of Glasgow, chancellor, George [Crichton], bishop of Dunkeld, William [Stewart], bishop of Aberdeen, the noble and powerful lords George [Gordon], earl of Huntly, James [Hamilton], earl of Arran, Archibald [Campbell], earl of Argyll, William [Graham], earl of Montrose, the venerable fathers in Christ Alexander [Milne], abbot of Cambuskenneth, Robert [Reid], abbot of Kinloss, George [Dury], abbot of Dunfermline, Walter [Lindsay], lord St John, John [Erskine], lord Erskine, William [Ruthven], lord Ruthven, and Master James Foulis of Colinton, clerk register, commissioners appointed by a special commission of our said supreme lord the king, with William [Keith], earl Marischal, William [Hay], earl of Erroll, constable, Andrew Dalmahoy, sergeant, and John Wilkison, dempster.
