Procedure: fifteenth article considered, clauses agreed and continued

Then the second clause of the fifteenth article of union, beginning with these words 'and in regard that after the union Scotland', was read and after some reasoning thereon, it was agreed to.

The third clause of the said fifteenth article, beginning with these words 'and for the further and more effectual answering', was also read and agreed to.

The fourth clause beginning with these words 'and that upon the said account there shall be answered to Scotland', was likewise read and agreed to.

The fifth clause of the said fifteenth article, beginning with these words 'and whereas from the expiration of seven years', was also read and ordered to be deleted, being determined by the eighth article.

The sixth clause beginning 'and generally that an equivalent shall be answered to Scotland', was read and the words 'or salt' appointed to be deleted, and, after some reasoning on the said clause, after deleting these words, the vote was put approve of the said clause or not, and it carried approve.

Then the seventh clause of the said fifteenth article beginning thus 'and as for the uses to which the said sum of £398,000', was read; as also, the representation of the council general of the Company of Scotland Trading to Africa and the Indies, and the consideration of both delayed until next sederunt of parliament.
