Procedure: disputed election
The controverted elections for West Lothian being called, and the objection against the vote of John Binning of Drumcross insisted in, the advocates for both parties were heard thereon, and the writs produced to verify their respective allegations considered and then the vote stated, sustain or reject the objection, carried sustain. After which Thomas Sharp of Houston, being found legally elected, took the oath of allegiance and oath of parliament, and subscribed the allegiance and assurance.
