Act in favors of James Thomsone

The estaits of parliament, taking into thair consideratioun ane suplicatioun givin in to them be James Thomsoune, notar, burges of Drumfreis, schewing that quheras [by] ane former suplicatioun to the committie of estaits befoir the calling of this present parliament he maid knowine his sufferings and heavie oppressioun with diverse abuses and injuries done to him be on[e] James Jardine, a man naither fearing God nor regairding to give obedience to the lawis of the kingdome, as in his former suplicatioun at lenth express[ed]; and for remedie and redress of which wrongs the saids estaits of parliament wes pleasit to mak a remitt and deputatioun to the committie of war in the shyr of Drumfreis for taking tryell therin and to mak report to the saids estaits, bot so it wes that the said committie could not finish and exped ther report befoir the meiting of parliament; thairfoir humblie creaving the saids estaits that they wold tak the premises to consideratioun and, eftir that they have hard the trew report of his desyres and sufferings, that they wold be pleasit to aply the reule of justice for his punishment and his satisfactioun, as at mair lenth is conteined in the said suplicatioun. Quhilk, with the report of the committie theranent, being hard and considerit be the saidis estaits of parliament, they have ordainit and ordanis the said James Jardine to pay to the suplicant four hundreth merks for the bygane skaith that the suplicant hes susteined; as lykwayis ordanis the said James Jardine to find sufficient catioun in the books of the committie of war of the shirefdome of Drumfreis for indemnitie of the suplicant in all tym coming.
