Procedure: confirmation of grants

On which day our same supreme lord, king James III, in his aforesaid parliament, with express, requested and considered consent and assent, confirmed, ratified and - for himself, his heirs and successors, in every better manner [and] form concerning the aforesaid assent and consent and deliberation - approved the gift and grant of the lands or barony of Bothwell, along with 40 merks of lands in the said lordship, which had lawfully come into his hands by reason of his revocation made of the same [lands], which William [Monypenny], lord Monypenny formerly occupied; and the fishing of the same; and also the presentation and advowson of the collegiate church of Bothwell and of the other prebends and chaplainries founded in that church, as is more fully contained in our aforesaid supreme lord the king's charter made and granted of these things to his familiar John Ramsay, notwithstanding whatsoever annexations, unions or whatsoever other things previously made or expedited by our same supreme lord the king or his predecessors. And thereupon he granted and ordered to be delivered his letters confirmatory of the aforesaid things under his great seal, together with the attachment of the seals of the lord prelates, barons and commissioners of burghs, in like customary and suitable form.

On which day also our supreme lord the king, in the same parliament, in the presence of the three estates and with their express assent and consent, in every better manner etc. approved, ratified and, for himself, his heirs and successors in perpetuity, confirmed, that valuation, sale and alienation of the lands of Thorndykes, with pertinents, made and granted to Janet Napier, wife of John Wilson, for a certain sum of money recovered before the lords of council, by their decree and deliverance, valued by John Ramsay of Bothwell, and the said Janet his mother, and the aforesaid John Wilson according to acts of parliament, and sold and alienated by the same persons, as is more fully contained in the charter made thereupon to the said Janet, notwithstanding the pending lawsuit, and whatsoever forfeiture following thereon, made and adjudged against William [Crichton], formerly lord Crichton, to whom the said lands, with pertinents, were at that time discerned to belong, and whatsoever other things to the contrary. Our same supreme lord the king, with the abovementioned assent and deliberation, ordered that charters and confirmatory evidences under the great seal be given and expedited thereon, with the attachment of the seals of the lord prelates, barons and commissioners of burghs, in like customary and suitable form etc.
