Ratification for Alexander Thomson

Our sovereign lord, with advice and consent of his estates of parliament, ratifies, approves and confirms to and in favour of Alexander Thomson, tailor, burgess of Edinburgh, a gift made and granted by his majesty, under his highness's privy seal of this his ancient kingdom of Scotland, to the said Alexander Thomson during his lifetime, of the office of being master tailor to his majesty within this his said kingdom, with all fees, privileges and immunities pertaining and belonging thereto, which were vacant in his majesty's hands and became at his highness's gift and disposition by the decease of the late James Ingles, last possessor thereof, as the said gift of the date 10 June 1650, at more length purports; in the whole heads, points, articles, clauses and circumstances thereof. Likewise, our said sovereign lord, with advice and consent foresaid, by the tenor hereof, wills and grants and, for his highness and his successors, decrees and ordains that the foresaid gift, with this present ratification thereof, are and shall be valid, effectual and sufficient rights to the said Alexander Thomson for using and exercising of said office and for uplifting of all fees and enjoying all privileges, immunities and others pertaining and belonging to the same office used and wont, as such and as freely in all respects as any tailor to his majesty's predecessors within this his said kingdom bruiked the same, in any time bygone; and further, our said sovereign lord, with advice and consent foresaid, admits, decrees and declares the foresaid gift, with this present ratification thereof, to be as valid, effectual and sufficient to the said Alexander Thomson as if the said gift were at length word for word engrossed herein, notwithstanding the same be not so done, with the which and with all objections that may be moved against the validity or invalidity of the said gift, and this present ratification thereof, our said sovereign lord, with advice foresaid, has dispensed and, by this ratification, dispenses forever.
