Procedure: patent read and received

The lord chancellor produced a patent under his majesty's great seal of 8 September last creating [John Scrimgeour], viscount of Dudhope to be earl of Dundee, viscount of Dudhope, lord Scrimgeour and Inverkeithing, which, being read and the estates of parliament acknowledging with all duty his majesty's favour to the said earl, the lord commissioner his grace did deliver the same to [William Ramsay], earl of Dalhousie who, in name of the earl of Dundee, received it upon his knee.
