Procedure
Prayeris said, rolls called.
Order: for the distribution of the troops; appointment of Colonel Ludovic Leslie
Ordinance anent the marching of the forces and appointing Lodovik Leslie to be colonell in place of Colonell William Stuart
The estates of parliament, upon consideration of the report of the grand committie concerneing the particulars eftirmentioned, ordanis suche of the new modelled trowpes as ar takine out of the regimentis within this kingdome furthwith to march northward toward Monrose, Abirdene or else where the generall officers sall think fitt for the good of the service, and for the rest of the trowpes of the new modell the estates ordanis them to keip randevous at Monrose upon the tent of March nixt (unless with advice had with the generall officers it salbe thocht fitt that some stay in the southe); and in the meantyme suche of them as the generall officers sall think fitt may have forloffs for visiting ther freindis, they keiping the randevous aforesaid and all of them payeing for what they get; and alse the estates doe heirby ordane and command the generall of attilliaries regiment presentlie to march northward, and ordanis and appointis these regimentis of foote made up out of the armie in England to keip randevous at Monrose the said tent of March nixt, and that suche therof as the generall officers sall think fitt may in the meantyme have forloffs for visiting ther freindis, they giving ther oathes before the receaving of ther forloffs and keiping the day of randevous aforesaid; and the estates ordanis cullors to be made and provyded for the saids regimentis agane the day of randevous aforesaid. As also the estates ordanis that suche regimentis and trowpes as ar not ordaned presentlie to marche be quartered untill ther marche to the randevous aforesaid in the shyres of Linlithgow, Stirling, Clakmannan, Fyiff and Pearth, and recommendis to the generall officers to be carefull that no lyeing quarter be in Perth shyre or Stirling shyre so farre as possiblie they can. And siclyck the estates, taking to ther consideration that article of the report of the grand committie beirand that Colonell Stuart, being hard anent his acceptance of the charge layed on him be the parliament, did expresse a great daill of willingnes to serve the cuntrie, but inregaird of his infirmitie and weaknes of bodie for this service he doeth declyne to accept, the saidis estates doe therfore nominat, elect and choose Lodovick Leslie to be colonell in place of Colonell William Stuart to that regiment quherunto the said Colonell William Stuart was formerlie appointed be the act of parliament anent the new modelled forces, and ordanis the said Colonell Lodovick Leslie to be in that same place and condition for all fies, casualities, priviledges and dignities belonging to that charge as if he had bene first nominat and appointed therto.
