Committee anent the excyse

The convention of estates nominatis and appoyntis the earles of Glencairne, Cassillis, Lauderdaill, Barglie, Loure, Halkertoun, Carnock, Kemnay, Greenock, Denmylne, Edinburgh, Dundie, Aberdeene, Glasgow and Lithgow (or anie nyne of them, their being tua of eache estate) and the chancellor to be supernumerarie, to meit the morne at aucht houres and to consider on the most just and equal way least prejudiciall to the kingdome and most sure and beneficiall to the armies in England and Ireland for procureing of credit, quherupon a present soume of money may be raised for a present supplie of these armies and for their future releiffe incaice of necessitie, and that be way of excise or be anie other better or more expedit way, and to report their oppinion to the estates.
