Ratificatione and act anente the erectione of the kirk of Anstruther Eister

Our soverane lord, with consent of the estates of this present parliament, considereing that ther wes ane petitione and supplicatione givine in to the generall assemblie haldine at Edinburgh, the tuentie one day of August 1639, at the instance of Sir Williame Anstruther of that ilke, knycht, gentleman ischear of his majesties privie chalmer, and of the baillies of the burghe of Anstruther Eister, for themeselves and in name and behalfe of the haill remanent inhabitantes of the barrony of Anstruther and burghe foirsaid of Anstruther Eister, makeand mentione that wher the said burghe of Anstruther Eister, being ane pairt of the parochine of Kilrinnie, and being populous and distant from the kirke of Killrinnie be the space of ane myle of deepe evil way in the winter tyme and other raynie tymes in the yeere, and the remanent of the said parochine of Killrynnie (besyde the inhabitantes of the said barrony of Anstruther and burghe of Anstruther Eister) being alse mony people as convenientlie may be serveit and easit within the said kirke of Killrynnie the tyme of divyne service, the foirnamed supplicantes, for ther bettir ease and commoditie in frequenting and repairing to Godis worshipe and for edificatione of the people and administratione of the sacraments, have causit bigge ane kirk with ane kirke yaird wpoun the said Sir Williame Anstruther his heritadge allotted be him for that use within the said burghe of Anstruther Eister, and intend to provyde ane stipend to the minister thairof, they obteaneing the said barrony of Anstruther and burghe of Anstruther Eister and the inhabitantes thairof dismembered fra the said kirke and parochine of Killrynnie and erectione thairof in ane severall parochine be itselfe; and therfore desyreing the said laite generall assemblie to dismember the said barrony of Anstruther and burghe of Anstruther Eister and haill inhabitantes therof fra the said burghe2 and parochine of Killrynnie, and to erect the samene in ane severall parochine be it selfe, and to appoynt and ordeane the inhabitantes of the saidis boundis to repaire to the said kirke of Anstruther Eister as ther paroche kirke in all tyme heereftir for divyne service, receiveing of the sacramentes and to use the kirke yaird therof for buriall of ther dead. And in the meanetyme the inhabitantes of the said burghe of Anstruther Eister and barrony of Anstruther to be repute and holdine parochineres of Killrynnie, to receive the benefite of the word and sacramentes therof ay and whill the said new kirke of Anstruther Eister be provydite of ane competent stipend, with provisione and declaratione that the dismembring of the said burghe of Anstruther Eister and barrony of Anstruther fra the said kirke of Killrynnye and erecting therof in ane severall parochine per se shall not be prejudiciall to the said kirke of Killrynnye, nor to the minister and parochineres therof anent the implement to them of the decreet of lordis commissioneres of parliament for surrenderes and teyndis off the dait the tuentie nynt day of Junii, jM vjC thertie fyve yeeres, and of the contract past betuixt Maister Colleene Adame, minister at Killrynnie, with consent of certane persones subscryveres thairof one the one pairt, and the said Sir Willame Anstruther and the baillies and counsell of the said burghe of Anstruther Eister thairinmentionat, for themselfes and in name and behalfe of the remanent counsell and commountie of the samene burghe of Anstruther Eister, one the other pairt, off the dait at Anstruther Eister, the nynteene day of Maii, jM vjC therttie sex yeeres. Quhilke petitione and supplicatione being red in presence of the said assemblie was fund be the samene assemblie to be reassounable and referrit be theme to this present parliament without prejudice of the presbetrie and parochineres and otheres haifing entres, as ane extract of ane act of the said assemblie of the dait foirsaid at lenth beeres. And his majestie, with consent of the estates of this present parliament, finding the desyre of the said supplicatione and act foirsaid of the said assemblie not onlie to be reassounable bot also to bee expedient, both for advancement of policy within the said burghe of Anstruther Eister and commodious to the inhabitantes of the said burghe of Anstruther Eister and barrony foirsaid of Anstruther for there ease in repairing to the kirke of God to divyne service and for baptisme and burial, therfore his majestie, with consent foirsaid, hes dismembred and, be thir presentes, dismemberes the foirsaid barrony of Anstruther and burghe of Anstruther Eister and haill inhabitantes therof fra the said kirke and parochine of Killrynnie, and hes erected and, be thir presentes, erectes the samene in ane severall parochine be it selfe, and appoyntes and ordeanes the inhabitantes of the saidis boundis to repair to the said kirke of Anstruther Eister as thair paroche kirke in all tyme heerefter for divyne service, receiveing of the sacramentes and to use the kirke yaird therof for buriell for ther deid. And in the meanetyme the inbabitantes of the said burghe of Anstruther Eister and barrony of Anstruther to be reput and holdine parochineres of Killrynnie, to receive the benefite of the word and sacramentes there ay and whill the said new kirke of Anstruther Eister be provydit of ane competent stipend, and with the provisioune and declaratione abovespecified conceaved in favoures of the minister and parochineres of Killrynnie anent the fullfilling to them of the decreet of the commissioneres of parliament for surrenderes and teyndis and contract respective abovespecifeid.
