Act in favour of the Duke of Lennox

Oure soverane lord and estates of this present parliament, considering and finding that thair ar sundrie and divers ratificatiounes grantit be his majestie and the saidis estates in this present parliament in favours of sundrie noblemen, barones, burghes, royall burghes of regalitie and uthers his majesties subjects withine this kingdome of Scotland off the chartors, infeftments and uthers wreattes and secuirities grantit and maid to the saidis noblemen, barones, burghes, royall burghes of regalitie and uthers his majesties subjects forsaids and to thair predicessors and authors of thair lands, heretages, offices, priveledges, liberties and uthers contenit in thair saidis chartors, infeftments, wreattes and secuirities thairof; and that in the saidis chartors, infeftments and uthers wreatts and secuirities grantit to the forsaids persones and thairs abonewrittine, and ratifiet in this present parliament, thair ar or may be some speciall gifts and dispositiones or generall clauses conteining, or quhilks may seime to contein, dispositioun of the jurisdictiones, priveledges, immwnities, liberties, fies, casualities and uthers propperlie belonging and apperteining to the offices of admiralitie and chamberlanrie of this kingdome (whairin his majesties dearest cowseine and counsallour James, duike of Lennox, earle Darnelie etc., stands heretablie infeft as brother, sone and air to umquhile Lodovicke, duike of Lennox) or of the saidis offices thameselffes or some pairt thairof, and quhilks may be hurtfull and prejudiciall to his majesties said dearest cowsigne and counsallour James, duike of Lennox, his airs and successors anent the peacible bruiking, joising, using and exerceing of the saidis offices of admiralitie and chamberlanrie of this kingdome with the priveledges, immwnities, honors, and dignities belonging to the saidis offices and uplifting and intrometting with the fies, casualities, commodities and dewties of the samyne offices, and being nowayes willing that his majesties said dearest cowsigne and counsallor James, duike of Lennox and his forsaids be in any sort hurt or prejudgit anent the saidis offices of admiralitie and chamberlanrie of this kingdome or any pairt thairof or anent the priveledges, immwnities, honors and dignities belonging to the saidis offices or the frie using and exerceing of the saidis offices within the haill bounds of this kingdome or anent the uplifting and intrometting with the fies, casualities, commodities and dewties of the samyne offices or any pairt thairof, have declarit, statuit and ordanit, lykas our said soverane lord and estates forsaids be thir presents declair, statuit and ordaine that no ratificatioun past and grantit in this present parliament in favours of any noblemen, barones, burghes, royall burghes of regalitie or uther his majesties subjects quhatsumever, nor the chartors, infeftments, wreattes, secuirities, priveledgis and liberties respective ather generallie or speciallie mentionat and ratifiet in the saidis ratificationes, sall be in any sort hurtfull or prejudiciall to his majesties said dearest cowsigne and counsallour James, duke of Lennox and his forsaidis anent thair peacible bruiking, joysing, useing and exerceing of the saidis offices of admiralitie and chamberlanrie of this kingdome or any pairt thairof, or anent the priveledges, immwnities, honors and dignities belonging to the saidis offices, or the frie useing and exerceing of the saidis offices within the haill bounds of this kingdome, or anent the uplifting and intrometting with the fies, casualities, commodities and dewties belonging to the saidis offices respective or any pairt thairof, bot that notwithstanding of the saidis ratificationes and of the chartors, infeftments, priveledges, liberties, richts and secuirities respective, ather generallie or particularlie ratifiet and mentionat in the saidis ratificationes, his majesties said dearest cowsigne and counsallour James, duike of Lennox and his forsaidis sall bruik, joyse, use and exerce the saidis offices of admiralitie and chamberlanrie of this kingdome, with the priveledges, immwnities, honors and dignities thairto belonging, and uplift and intromett with the fies, casualities, commodities and dewties of the samyne offices siclyk and als frielie in all respects as if the ratificationes abonewrittine past and grantit in this present parliament and the chartors, infeftments, priveledges, liberties, richts and secuirities ather generallie or speciallie thairby ratifiet had never beine maid nor grantit. Lykas oure said soverane lord and estates forsaids ratifies and approves all chartors, infeftments, richts and secuirities quhatsumever maid and grantit be his hienes and his predicessors to the said James, duike of Lennox and his predicessors and authors of the saidis offices of admiralitie and chamberlanrie of this kingdome, with the priveledges, immwnities, honors, dignities, fies, casualities and commodities belonging to the saidis offices, in the haill haids, articles, conditiones, clausis and circumstances thairof, and ordaines this generall ratificatioun to be als valide, effectuall and sufficient as if the saidis chartors, infeftments, richts and secuirities wer speciallie insert heirintill word be word and ratifiet heirby in particular. And als wills, statuits and ordaines that the infeftments and secuirities grantit be his hienes and his predicessors to his said dearest cowsigne and counsallour James, duke of Lennox, his predicessors and authors of the saidis offices of admiralitie and chamberlanrie abonewrittine, with the priveledges and uthers abonementionat thairto belonging, sall be good, valide and sufficient richts to the said James, duke of Lennox, his airs and assignais contenit in the saidis infeftments and secuirities for bruiking, joysing, using and exerceing of the saidis offices with the priveledges and uthers abonewrittin thairto belonging, notwithstanding of any actes of parliament, lawes or practickes of this kingdome maid and sett downe or that may seame to be maid or sett downe in the contrair; anent the quhilks his majestie and estates of this present parliament hes dispensit and be thir presents dispenses for ever.
