Letter: to the king
Letter to his majesty anent Antrim
Most sacred sovereign,
As upon the first notice the council received of the apprehending of [Randall MacDonnell], earl of Antrim, they did humbly acquaint your majesty forthwith by their letter of the [...] of this instant, so do I now, in name of the convention of estates, present to your majesty the enclosed copy of the depositions of the earl and his two servants and of the letters found upon them, which were written by [Robert Maxwell], earl of Nithsdale and [James Gordon], viscount of Aboyne, whereby your majesty will perceive this kingdom and the peace thereof closely interested and the presumptions whereupon he was first apprehended to be now confirmed. And so etc. Signed, [John Campbell, earl of] Loudoun, chancellor. In presence of the convention, Edinburgh, 29 June.
