Protestation of the town of Brechin against the act of erection of the kirk of Careston

In presence of the king's majesty and estates of parliament compeared Robert Dempster, commissioner for the burgh of Brechin, and in name and on behalf of the provost, bailies, council and community of the said burgh and ministers thereat, protested that the act of erection of the kirk of Careston granted in this present parliament should be always without prejudice to the said town of Brechin regarding the rights, privileges and liberties of the said burgh and parish thereof; and thereupon asked instruments.
