Protestation of [James Hamilton], marquis of Hamilton against the ratification of the town of Linlithgow
In presence of the king's majesty and estates of parliament James, marquis of Hamilton etc., personally present, protested that the ratification granted in this present parliament in favour of the burgh of Linlithgow, provost, bailies, council and community thereof, should in no way be prejudicial to his infeftments, rights, privileges and liberties granted to him, his predecessors or authors of the lands, teinds and others mentioned therein; and thereupon asked instruments.
