Protestation of [Archibald Campbell], marquis of Argyll against the ratification in favour of the town of Dumbarton

In presence of the king's majesty and estates of parliament, Archibald, marquis of Argyll, earl of Kintyre, lord Lorne, personally present, protested that the ratification granted in this present parliament in favour of the provost, bailies, council and community of the burgh of Dumbarton of their rights, infeftments, liberties and privileges should be in no way prejudicial to him, his heirs and successors regarding any rights, infeftments, privileges and liberties granted to him, his authors and predecessors; and thereupon asked instruments.
