Ratification to Master Alexander Wedderburn
Our sovereign lord, with advice and consent of the estates of this present parliament, for seen and weighty causes moving his highness, has ratified, approved and confirmed and, by this legislation, ratifies, approves and confirms that contract and appointment of the date 11 October 1641, made between his highness on the one part and Master Alexander Wedderburn, town clerk of Dundee, on the other part, by the which contract our said sovereign lord has set in tack and assedation to the said Master Alexander all and sundry his highness's customs of Dundee for payment of a certain tack duty, and also has given power to the said Master Alexander for collecting, gathering in and receiving of his majesty's impost of all sorts of wines within the said burgh during the space mentioned in the said contract, as also has given and granted to the said Master Alexander a certain yearly pension during the space and for the causes specified in the same contract, in all and sundry the heads, clauses and conditions thereof, with all that has followed or may follow thereupon; and declares this present ratification to be as valid and effectual as if the foresaid contract were inserted herein at length word for word.
