Ratification in favour of [David Beaton], laird of Balfour

Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament ratify and approve the feu charter and infeftment made, given and granted by the late John Lauder, archdean of Tweeddale and commendator of the vicarage of the parish kirk of Kilrenny, within the diocese of St Andrews, with consent of the commendator of the convent of the monastery of Dryburgh, patron thereof, archbishop of St Andrews and others of the convent of the said monastery, to the late John Beaton of Kilrenny and Agnes Anstruther, his spouse, and longest liver of the two, and the heirs then lawfully procreated or to have been procreated between them, which failing, the male heirs of the said late John whatsoever, of all and sundry the tenth or teind of fishes, and chiefly of herring and other fishes whatsoever occurring or coming to the new port or harbour of Kilrenny, or to have been built thereto, and pertaining and belonging to the said vicar or his successors forever, with all liberties, commodities, easements and righteous pertinents whatsoever, excepting only those which were incumbent to the citizens of the east part of the burn of the town of Anstruther to the vicar of Kilrenny, to have been built in the said new port, for the time to be taken that thereafter should happen, which teinds were reserved to the vicars or commendators of Kilrenny for the time, which were reserved forever upon the condition nevertheless that time about the teinds of the boats of the said new port of Kilrenny in the ports of Anstruther within the parish of Kilrenny for the time to be applied should pertain and belong to the said late John and Agnes2, of the date 19 and 23 February 1543, with the instrument of sasine following thereupon, and with all other and subsequent rights, titles and securities made, granted, conceived or that in any way may be extended or interpreted in favour of David Beaton of Balfour and John Beaton, his eldest lawful son, fiar thereof, now undoubted heritor of the said teinds, in all and sundry the heads, points, clauses, articles, provisions, conditions and circumstances thereof, and after the forms and tenors of the same in all points. And will and grant that this present general ratification of the said writs, rights and securities specially and generally above-written shall be as valid, effectual and sufficient to the said David and John Beaton, their heirs and successors, for possessing of the said teinds in all time coming, as if the same were herein specially and particularly word for word expressed, inserted and contained; concerning which, our sovereign lord and estates of parliament have dispensed and hereby dispense for ever.
