Ratification to Colonel John Leslie

Our sovereign lord, with advice and consent of the estates of this present parliament, for seen and weighty causes moving his highness, has ratified, approved and perpetually confirmed and, by this legislation, ratifies, approves and perpetually confirms, a charter and infeftment under the great seal, dated 22 February 1634, granted by the king's majesty in favour of Colonel John Leslie, lawful son to the late David Leslie of Otterston and Agnes Logan, his spouse, together with the instrument of sasine following thereupon, of the date 29 May 1634, under the note and subscription of Andrew Glassford, notary, given by virtue of a precept directed forth of our sovereign lord's chancellery in favour of the said Colonel John Leslie, lawful son to the late David Leslie of Otterston and Agnes Logan, his spouse, of all and whole the lands of Myres, Over and Nether, lands of Auchtermuchty, with the manor place, tower, fortalice, dovecots, orchards, yards, parts, pendicles, annexes, connexes, dependencies and that outset called Dunshelt, tofts, crofts, houses, buildings, tenants, tenancies, service of free tenants and pertinents thereof whatsoever, with the privilege of commonty in the hills of Auchtermuchty and other commonties pertaining to the said lands used and wont, and of all and whole the meadows of Auchtermuchty, and whole lands as well arable as unarable and the grazing yards within the said bounds, lying within the stewartry and sheriffdom of Fife. And also ratifying and approving and perpetually confirming a signature superscribed by his highness, of the date 21 October 1641, whereby his majesty has given and granted to the said Colonel John Leslie in liferent, and to Patrick Leslie, his son, his male heirs and assignees whatsoever heritably in fee, the office of macer and serjeant of arms, together with the whole dignities, privileges and duties pertaining and belonging thereto, together also with the feu ferm duties of the lands of Myres, Over and Nether, lying within the parish of Auchtermuchty, stewartry and sheriffdom of Fife pertaining heritably to the said Colonel John Leslie, the same extending yearly to the sum of £10 10s Scots money, with all that has followed or may follow thereupon in all and sundry the heads, clauses and condition thereof; and declares this present ratification to be as effectual to the said Colonel John Leslie, his son and their foresaids as if the same were inserted and set down herein at length and word for word; concerning which our said sovereign lord and estates of parliament have dispensed and hereby dispense for ever.
