Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament ratify, approve and confirm the gift and mortification contained therein granted by his majesty in favour of a sufficient minister to be provided to serve the cure within the parish of Glenluce, whereby his majesty has given, granted, mortified, conveyed and confirmed to the said minister, to be provided for serving the cure at the said kirk of Glenluce in place of [Thomas Sydserf], bishop of Galloway, and a schoolmaster to reside at the said kirk of Glenluce, all and whole the precinct and rooms of the said abbey of Glenluce for manses and glebe, and the sum of 1,000 merks money of stipend out of the bishops' rents within the said parish yearly, and the sum of 200 merks to be likewise paid out of the rents of the said bishopric for a schoolmaster to reside at the said kirk of Glenluce, which sum of 1,200 merks his majesty has ordained to be paid to the minister and schoolmaster and their successors in all time coming, in form and manner mentioned in the said mortification, whereby his majesty has dissolved the said precinct and rooms of the said abbey of Glenluce and the said 1,200 merks to be paid to the said minister and schoolmaster and their successors from the said bishopric of Galloway, and has mortified the same for the use of the said minister and schoolmaster in all time coming, and has ordained the said mortification to be completed under his highness's great seal, as in the same of the date 15 November instant at length is contained, in the whole heads, articles, clauses, circumstances and conditions thereof. And hereby his majesty and the said estates will and grant that this present ratification thereof is and shall be as valid, of as great force, strength and effect to the minister and schoolmaster to be provided as said is, and their successors, as if the said letter of mortification were at length inserted herein, concerning which, and with all defects therein and all objections that may be proposed against the said letter of gift of mortification, our said sovereign lord and the said estates dispense for ever. And further, our said sovereign lord and estates of parliament have dissolved, and hereby dissolve, the foresaid precinct and rooms of the said abbey of Glenluce, with the said sum of 1,200 merks yearly out of the rents of the said bishopric of Galloway within the parish of Glenluce and other rents of the said bishopric in manner mentioned in the said mortification, from his highness's crown and patrimony thereof, and from the bishopric of Galloway and from all other benefices whatsoever to which the same were annexed or pertained of before, to the effect the said precinct and rooms of the said abbey of Glenluce and sum above-mentioned contained in the said signature, gift and mortification above-written may remain with the said minister and schoolmaster above-designed in manner and to the effect contained in the said mortification perpetually in all time coming; and declare that the foresaid gift and mortification, with this legislation ratifying the same, shall be sufficient and valid rights to the said minister and schoolmaster for possessing of the said precinct and uplifting of the foresaid 1,200 merks above-written to the effect respectively before rehearsed in all time hereafter.
