Ratification to Master David Forrester
Our sovereign lord and estates of parliament ratify and approve the gift of the sheriff-clerkship of Stirlingshire granted by John [Erskine], earl of Mar to John Williamson during all the days of his lifetime, and after his decease to Master David Forrester, his servant, for all the days of his lifetime, which is of the date 9 April 1637, in the whole heads, articles and clauses thereof, and dispense with the not inserting of the same, and wills and ordains that the foresaid gift granted to them respectively and successively is and shall be a perfect right to them for possessing and exercising the said office during all the days of their lifetimes, each one successively after the other as said is, with the whole liberties, privileges, benefit and casualties belonging thereto, according to the foresaid gift in all points.
