Ratification in favour of [John Lyon], earl of Kinghorn

Our sovereign lord, with advice and consent of the estates of this present parliament, ratifies, approves and perpetually confirms the charter and infeftment granted by his majesty under the great seal to John, earl of Kinghorn, his male heirs and assignees, of all and whole the lands within the territory of Glamis, which pertained of old to the abbots and convent of Arbroath lying within the lordship and regality of Arbroath and sheriffdom of Forfar; all and whole the lands of Mundurno, Over and Nether, with their pendicles and pertinents, with the mill of the same, mill lands, multures, sequels of the said mill, lying within the barony of Fyvie, regality and lordship foresaid of Arbroath and the sheriffdom of Aberdeen; as also of all and sundry the teind sheaves and parsonage teinds of all and whole the parish kirk and parish of Glamis, and of all and sundry the lands, heritages, rooms, possessions and steadings lying within the said parish of Glamis, diocese of St Andrews and sheriffdom of Forfar foresaid, of the date at Edinburgh, 5 August 1635. And also our said sovereign lord and estates of parliament ratify, approve and perpetually confirm another charter and infeftment granted by his majesty under the great seal to the said John, earl of Kinghorn, his male heirs and assignees foresaid, of an acre of land called Pyker Acre, lying within the barony of Belhelvie, parish thereof and sheriffdom of Aberdeen foresaid, with advocation, donation and right of patronage of the parsonage and vicarage of the parish kirk and parish of Belhelvie with all and sundry lands, teind sheaves and other teinds, fruits, rents, emoluments, profits and duties pertaining thereto lying within the said sheriffdom of Aberdeen, of the date at Edinburgh, 12 July 1634. As also our said sovereign lord and estates foresaid ratify and approve the charter and infeftment made and granted by his majesty to the said John, earl of Kinghorn and his foresaids of the right of patronage of the kirk of Rescobie, parsonage and vicarage thereof, together with all infeftments granted to the late Sir Thomas Lyon of Auldbar, knight, and John Lyon of Auldbar, his son, or either of them, of the foresaid right of patronage of the parish kirk of Rescobie, parsonage and vicarage thereof, from whom the said Earl of Kinghorn acquired the right of the same, together also with the bond of ratification of the same made by Master Alexander Gladstones, archdean of St Andrews, with consent of the bishop, dean and chapter thereof, ratifying and approving the foresaid infeftments with the right of patronage of the said kirk of Rescobie, containing also a procuratory for resigning and surrendering of the foresaid right of patronage in the hands of his majesty's late father of blessed memory, in favour of the said Earl of Kinghorn and his above-written, with the infeftment following thereupon, in the whole heads, articles, clauses and conditions of the same and every one of them. Likewise his majesty and estates of parliament will, declare and ordain that this present ratification shall be as effectual as if the said infeftments and rights were herein inserted word for word, concerning which his majesty, with consent foresaid, dispenses. Moreover, his majesty, with advice and consent foresaid, ordains and declares that the foresaid infeftments and other rights and titles above-mentioned hereby ratified, with this present ratification thereof, are and shall be sufficient and valid rights and titles to the said John, earl of Kinghorn and his foresaids for holding and possessing of the foresaid lands, teinds, patronages and others above-specified contained therein, without any question or contradiction to be made to them relating thereto, according to the tenors of the foresaid charters, infeftments and other rights and titles above-mentioned granted to them thereof, and hereby ratified as said is in time coming.
