Act in favour of [John Erskine], earl of Mar and [Alexander Livingstone, earl of] Linlithgow

The which day the king's majesty and estates of parliament, considering that by an act of this present parliament of the date hereof, entitled 'Act discharging monopolies', the patent granted to the Earl of Linlithgow for making powder and the patent of leather granted to the Earl of Mar are thereby discharged, and that the said earls have formerly bestowed charges upon the said works, therefore his majesty and estates of parliament remit to the council to take consideration of the said charges and expense bestowed by the said two earls, and each one of them, upon the foresaid works contained in their patent, and to grant recompense for the same.
