Ordinance in favour of William Cunningham of Polton

The which day the supplication given in to the parliament by William Cunningham of Polton against Alexander [Stewart], earl of Galloway, together with the answers made thereto by the earl, personally present, being read in audience of the king and parliament, his majesty and estates of parliament appoint the duplicate of the said answers to be given to the supplicant to be answered by him, and in the meantime assign Tuesday next to summon such witnesses as are in town for proving of the complaint, and assign 7 October [1641] for summoning such witnesses as were not in town, without prejudice to the earl of his defence in the cause and objections against the witnesses.
