[Order of public and private business in parliament]
Order of public business
12 August 1641
At the meeting of the nobility, who elected [Archibald Campbell], earl of Argyll president, it is agreed by most voices among the nobility that the article or overture as it is expressed that public business be first proposed and concluded before any particular be moved and that the act formerly made be renewed; that nothing concerning any private estate be moved in parliament until all public business and all processes be passed and concluded. And for intimating hereof to the barons and burghs, nominates [James Livingstone, lord Almond], lieutenant general, the Earl of Argyll and [John Kennedy, earl of] Cassilis.
