Procedure: Lord Elphinstone commanded to act as an assizer in the trial of Master John Stewart
It being represented by the three assizers adjoined to the justice for Master John Stewart's process that [Alexander Stewart], lord Elphinstone was the fourth assizer nominated by the parliament and is unwilling and refuses to join with them in respect foresaid, the estates of parliament command the said Lord Elphinstone to accept the said office and to proceed in doing his duty therein to the end of the process.
