[Members present; lord commissioner's subscription of covenant; ratification of the acts of the general assembly]
[John Stewart, earl of Traquair, lord commissioner, present]2
The lord commissioner general subscribed the covenant with some declaration premised to his subscription as commissioner, but subscribed the same simply as treasurer.3
Ratification of the acts of assembly, namely: the act made upon 17 August last, entitled, 'Regarding the six causes of our bygone evils' and the act prefixed to the covenant, read, voted and passed in articles under the protestation made by [Archibald Campbell], earl of Argyll, for himself and such noblemen as adhere to him, and by the barons and burghs, that the same is voted without prejudice of the protestations formerly made by them and that all which shall pass in articles be under the same protestations until they receive answer.4
[Supplications read and debated]
The supplication against Doctor [Walter] Balcanquall read, voted and passed in articles.5
The supplication regarding the grievances of the ministers of the north read, and because the same is general, the commissioners from the assembly are appointed to condescend specially upon the particulars, persons, time, places, and facts.6
The supplication presented by the commissioners of the assembly for disuniting of churches, augmentation of ministers' stipends, especially of bishops' kirks, erection of schools etc., as containing many points of great importance, taken to further consideration and advisement.7
