Act in favour of Master Walter Whitford

Our sovereign lord, being graciously pleased to take consideration of the great pains and charges that Doctor Walter Whitford, one of his majesty's chaplains, has been at about the eviction of the patronage of the sub-deanery of Glasgow, and redeeming of the tacks of the teinds of the same, therefore, and that the heritors within the said sub-deanery may be secured of their teinds without prejudice to the kirk, our said sovereign lord, with advice and consent of the estates of this present parliament, has given and granted and, by this act, gives and grants power, licence and liberty to the said Doctor Walter Whitford at any time during his lifetime, with consent of the dean and chapter of Glasgow, to set tacks and assedations of all and sundry the teinds, fruits, rents, emoluments and duties of the said benefice and sub-deanery of Glasgow to the heritors of the lands within the said sub-deanery, their heirs, successors, assignees and subtenants for the space of three 19 years next after their entry thereto, for yearly payment of the old rental bolls used and wont to be paid for the said teinds of before, and without diminution thereof; to the which tacks and assedations so to be set by the said Doctor Walter Whitford at any time during his lifetime for the space and yearly duty foresaid, our said sovereign lord has given and, by this act, gives his royal consent. As also our said sovereign lord, with advice and consent of the said estates of parliament, wills, grants, declares and ordains that the said tacks and assedations so to be set by the said Doctor Walter Whitford shall be good, valid and sufficient rights of the said teinds and fruits of the said benefice to the heritors of the lands to whom they shall be set and their foresaids for possessing thereof during the space foresaid, notwithstanding of whatsoever act of parliament, other acts, laws or constitutions of this realm made heretofore in the contrary or which may be prejudicial to the said tacks, and this always without prejudice of any tacks set of before of the teinds and rents of the said benefice or any part thereof to any person or persons, and ordains an act to be completed thereupon in this present parliament.
