Ratificatioun in favouris of Schir James Dowglas of Spott

Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament ratifies, approvis and confermis the infeftment grantit be his majestie under his hienes great seale, with consent of his hienes thesaurar, collectoure generall and thesaurar of his majesties new augmentationes, remanent officiars of estate and lordis of his majesties secrete counsale, to his hienes lovit Schir James Dowglas of Spott, knycht, and his airis maill and of taillie and provisioun thairin specifeit and assignais quhatsomevir, off all and haill the landis and barony of Spott, comprehending the landis and utheris underwrittin, viz: all and haill the landis of Eister Spott with the parties and pendicles thairof, to witt, the fouretene husband landis of the towne of Spott with the cottages thairof, with the eist and west mylnis of Spot, the landis of Lochhousse, the Manes of Downe and Brownisknow, the landis of Helden and Dunley, the landis of Eister and Wester Brwmehousse, togidder with the foure husband landis callit Paulis landis, and the twa husband landis callit Pookis landys lyand in the toun and territorie of Spott, and als the landis of Reidpethnuke, with tennentis, tenandreis, service of fre tennentis, mylnis, woddis, schawis, annexis, connexis, partes, pendicles, pertinentis and dependentis of all the landis and mylnis abonewrittin quhatsomevir, lyand within the schirefdome of Edinburgh and constabularie of Hadingtoun, together with the advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of the prebendarie of Spott situat of auld within the college kirk of Dumbar, comprehending the personage and vicarage of Spott, quhilkis ar be the said infeftment unite and erectit in ane haill and fre baronye callit the baronie of Spott, to be haldin of oure soverane lord and his successours lyke as at mair lenth is contenit in the said infeftment of the dait at Edinburgh, the nynt day of August, the yeir of God ane thowsand sex hundreth and fyve yeris, with the precept and infeftment of seasing following thairupoun. And siclyke oure said soverane lord and estaittis foirsaidis ratifies, apprevis and confermis the lettir of chalmerlanrie and bailliarie grantit be his majestie under his hienes privie seill, with consent of his majesties comptrollar for the tyme, to the said Schir James Dowglas of Spott, knycht, quhairby he was maid and constitute during his lyftyme his hienes chalmerlane and baillie of all his majesties landis and lordschip of Dumbar, with partes, pendicles and pertinentis thairof quhatsomevir, for exerceing and using of quhilk office his majestie gave and grantit to the said Schir James Dowglas of Spott, knycht, in fie, twentye bollis quheit and twentye bollis beir, to be yeirlie upliftit be him during his lyftyme of the reddiest fermes of the saidis landis and lordschip of Dumbar, as the said lettir of chalmerlanrie and bailliarie grantit to the said Schir James Dowglas thairupoun of the dait at Newcastell, the threttene day of Aprile, the yeir of God one thowsand sex hundreth and thre yeris, at mair lenth beris, in all and sindrie pointis, passes, heidis, articles, clauses, conditiones and circumstances quhatsomevir contenit in the said infeftment and lettir of chalmerlanrie and bailliarie respective abonewrittin, efter the formes and tennoures thairof with all that hes followit or may follow thairupoun. Lykas his majestie and estaites foirsaidis statutis and ordanis that this present ratificatioun is and salbe als valide, effectuall and sufficient in all respectis as gif the foirsaid infeftment and lettir of chalmerlanrie and bailliarie respective abonewrittin of the daittis respective abonespecifeit war at lenth and word be word ingrost in this present act. And siclyke his majestie and estaittis foirsaidis willis, grantis, statutis and ordanis that the foirsaid infeftment and letter of chalmerlanrie and bailliarie respective abonespecifeit, and this present ratificatioun thairof, ar and salbe gude, lauchfull, valide and effectuall richtis and securities to the said Schir James Dowglace, his airis maill and assignais foirsaidis, for bruiking and joysing of the landis, barony and utheris abonewrittin with the pertinentis contenit in the infeftment abonespecifeit, as thair heritage in all tyme cuming, and for using and exercing of the said office of chalmerlanrie and bailliarie of the landis and lordschip abonewrittin with the pertinentis during the space abonespecifeit, and for uplifting of the foirsaid yeirlie dewtie of twentye bollis quheit and twentye bollis beir, to be yeirlie upliftit of the reddiest fermes of the landis and lordschip abonewrittin, during the said space of his lyftyme, efter the formes and tennouris of the said infeftment and lettir of chalmerlanrie and bailliarie respective abonementionat.
