Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, understanding that his majesteis course haith evir bene fra the beginning not to punische the innocent for the offendaris cryme, and now carying the samyn mynd towardis these his hienes faithfull and obedient subjectis wha hes acquirit sum richtis and titillis of lands and teyndis fra umquhile Robert Logane of Restalrig, baith befoir and sen his practizing in the horrible and detestable treassoun committit aganis his majesteis awin persone with the tratour Gowrie and his brother at Perth, the fyft day of August jM and sex hundreth yeres, for the quhilkis he and his posteritie ar in this present parliament maist worthelie foirfaultit and his memorie and posteritie declarit to be extinct, and his haill landis sen the committing of the said treassoun the tyme foirsaid to pertene to his hienes in propirtie for evir; and seeing that it is cleirlie understand to oure soverane lord and estaittis foirsaidis that Schir Johne Arnote, provest of Edinburgh, Archibald Johnestoun, mercheand burges of the said burgh, and Rachaell Arnote, his spous, Andro Logane of Coitfeild and Williame Fairlie, portionar of Restalrig, ar and wer altogidder innocent and frie of the said umquhile laird of Restalriggis practizes in that detestable cryme, and his majestie being maist willing that innocent men sould nawayes participat in the punishement of that his defectioun and treassonable deidis, thairfoir oure said soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament declaris, statutis and ordanis that the process and dome of foirfaltour pronuncit aganis the said umquhile Robert of Logane of Restalrig and his posteritie in this present parliament shall nawayes be prejudiciall nor mak ony dirogatioun to the saidis Schir Johne Arnote, Archibald Johnestoun, Rachaell Arnote, his spous, Andro Logane and Williame Fairlie, nor nane of thame nor thair airis, anent suche richtis of landis, takkis, teyndis and possessionis as they have acquirit and purchessit of the said umquhile laird of Restalrig or fra ony utheris persones haveand richt proceding fra the said umquhile Robert Logane of Restalrig, ather befoir or sen the tyme foirsaid of the committing of the said treassoun, to the effect that the saidis Schir Johne Arnote, Archibald Johnestoun, his said spous, Andro Logane and William Fairly and thair airis respective, may peciablie bruik and possess the samyn as gif na sic treassonable interpryse had bene intendit nor declairit aganis the said laird of Restalrig.
