2Act anent the Egiptians
Oure soverane lord and estaittis of parliament ratifeis, approves and perpetualie confermes the act of secrete counsell maid in the moneth of Junii or theirby 1603 yearis, and proclamatioun following thairupoun, commanding the vagaboundis, sorneris and commoun theiffis commounlie callit Egiptianis to pas furth of this kingdome and remane perpetualie furth theirof and nevir to returne within the samyn under the paine of death, and that the samyn have force and executioun eftir the first day of August nixtocum, eftir the whilk tyme gif ony of the saidis vagaboundis called Egiptians, alsweill wemen as men, shalbe foundin within this kingdome or ony pairt thairof, it shall be lesum to all his majesteis subjectis, or ony ane of them, to cause tak, apprehend, imprisone and execute to death the saidis Egiptianis, aither men or wemen, as commoun, notorious and condemned theiffis, by ane assyse onlie, to be tryed that they ar callit, knawin, repute and haldin Egiptianis, in the whilk cause wha soevir of the assyse hapnis to chalenge3 ony of the fairsaidis persones Egiptianis pannelled as said is shall be persewit, handled and censured as committeris of wilfull errour; and whasoevir shall at ony tyme theiraftir resett, receave, supplie or intertein ony of the saidis Egiptianis, either men or wemen, shall tyne their escheat and be wairded at the judges will, and that the schireffis and magistratis in whais boundis they shall publictlie and avowedlie resort and remane be called befoir the lordis of his heighnes secrete counsall and seveirlie censured and punist for their negligence in executioun of this act, dischargeing all lettres, protectionis and warrandis quhatsoevir purchessed by the saidis Egiptianes or ony of them frome his majestie or lordis of secrete counsaill for thair remaning within this realme, as surreptitiouslie and deceatfullie obteined by their knawlege, annulling all sic warrandis purchessed or heireftir to be purchessed by ony subject of whatsomevir rank within this kingdome for thair ressett, intertenying or doing of ony maner of favour to the saidis Egiptianis at ony tyme eftir the said first day of August nixtocum for now and evir.
