Oure soverane lord, for the gude, faithfull and most acceptable services evidentlie done at divrs tymes to his hienes honour be his richt traist cousing and familiar counsaillour George, erle of Dunbar, lord Home of Berwick etc., in the administratioun of justice by repressing and punischement of notorius proud malefactouris within the bounds of the lait marches of both the realmes, according to his majesteis warrand and commissioun directit and gevin thairanent, quhairby great peax and tranquilitie hes insewit to the evident weill off his majesties crowne and royall estait and to the commoun weilth of all his hienes gude subjectis of the haill realme of Great Britane, thairfoir his majestie, eftir Gods advyse, mature deliberatioun, consent, decreit and approbatioun of the haill estaittis of his grace kingdome of Scotland convenit in parliament, upoun thair certain knawlege and competent sure experience of the premises, ordanis ane chartour of confirmatioun to be made under his majesteis great seall in the main forme ratefeing, appreving and for his hienes and his successoris perpetualie confirmig, lyk as be thir presentis, for his majestie and his successouris, with advyse and deliberatioun foirsaid, and als with express consent of George, archibischop of Sanctandrous, personalie comperand in parliament, ratefeis, apprevis and perpetualie confirmis ane chartour of pure alienatioun and new dispositioun thairin mentionat, conntening precept of seasingis maid and grantit be the said George, archibischop of Sanctandrous, with consent and assent of the chaptour of the metropolitane kirk thairof, to the said George, erle of Dunbar, his airis and assignais heretablie, off all and haill the landis of Broxmouth, with mansioun, maner place, houses, orchardis, yairdis, doucattis, mylnis, grennis, lynkis, pairtis, pendiclis and all thair pertinentis lyand in the parochin of Dunbar within the schirefdome of Edinburgh and constabularie of Hadingtoun, boundit at lenth in the said infeftment, to be haldin of the said Archibischop of Sanctandrous and his successouris in frie blenche for yeirlie payment of tuentie schillingis usuale Scottis money at twa usuale termes in the yeir, Witsonday and Mertymes in winter, be equall portionis, in name of anualrent blenchferme alanerlie, as the samyn datit the tuentie ane day of December jM vjC aucht yeiris beiris, and the instrument of seasing past upoun the said chartour and all utheris tytillis and richtis and securiteis quhatsumevir following and depending on the samin in all and sindrie pointis, clauses, articlis and conditionis quhatsumevir thairin expressit, haldand thame all and everie ane of thame as heirintill specialie word be word ingrossit. Attoure, his majestie, with consent, decreit and approbatioun foirsaid, giftis, grantis and disponis to the said George, erle of Dunbar, his airis and assignais all richt, titill, entres, clame, petitour and possessour, baith propirtie and possessioun, quhilk his hienes, his predecessouris and successouris evir had or may have to the saidis landis of Broxmouth, with all thair pertinentis or ony pairt of the samin be ressone of waird, releif, nonentres, escheat, forfaltour, recognitioun, purpresture, disclamatioun, reductioun of infeftmentis, alienatioun of the haill or maist pairt, changeing and alteratioun of the halding quhilk his majestie hes done and ratefeit of his royall power and princelie authoritie or for ony uther cause, actioun or occasioun bipast, renunceing and transferring the samin, with all actioun and instance thairof, to and in favouris of the said erle, his airis and assignais for evir, cum pacto de non petendo etc., with supplement of all faultis etc., promesing in the word of a prince, for his majestie and his successouris, nevir to move actioun, pley, questioun nor querrell aganis thame thairanent. And his majestie and estaittis foirsaidis declaris this present sall be ane sufficient warrand to the keiparis of his hienes signet, seallis and registeris for expeding the said confirmatioun to the said Erle of Dunbar.
