Oure soverane lord and estaittis of this present parliament, haveand consideratioun of the manifauld gude, trew and thankfull services done to his majestie be his weilbelovit Schir James Murray of Cokpule, knycht, and be umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule, his father, hes ratefeit and approvin and, be the tennoure heirof, ratefeis and appreves the infeftment maid, gevin and grantit be his majestie under his hienes great seall of the date the tuelf day of Marche the yeir of God jM vjC and fyve yeiris, to the said umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule and his airis maill quhatsumevir beirand the surname and armes of Murray, of all and sindrie the landis and utheris underwrittin, viz: the landis of Cokpule, Ruvale tenement, the tour and fortalice of Cumlungane, Coklaikis, Pyhillis, Slachwatt, Ranepatrik, Brydchapell, Preistdykes, Howaldsyd, with the pertinentis, lyand in the stewartrie of Annanderdaill and schirefdome of Drumfreis, the landis of Link and landis of Arbigland, with thair pertinentis, lyand within the stewartrie of Kirkcubricht, with all thair mylnis, multuris, tennentis, tennendreis and service of frie tennentis, advocatioun and donatioun of kirkis and chaplanreis thairof and all thair pertinentis, all unite, annexit, treat and incorporat in ane haill and frie baronie callit the baronie of Cokpule; contenand alsua thairin ane erectioun and creatioun of the towne of Ruvale and landis thairof lyand in the said Ruvale tenement in ane frie burgh of baronie, to be callit in all time cummyng the burgh of Ruvale, with oulklie marcat dayes and frie faires and all utheris immuniteis, privileges and liberteis of ane frie burgh of baronie in all and sindrie pointis, heidis, articlis, clauses, conditionis and circumstances quhatsumevir specefeit and contenit thairin. And his majestie and estaittis foirsaidis of this present parliament willis, grantis, declaris, statutis and ordanis that the said Schir James Murray, now of Cokpule, knycht, sone and air of the said umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule, and his airis maill and successoures, shall peciablie posses, bruik, and jois all and sindrie the foirsaidis landis and baronie and utheris abone expressit with thair pertinentis, togidder with the foirsaid burgh of baronie callit the burgh of Ruvale, with all privileges and immuniteis thairof, as thair propirtie and heretage at thair pleasure, eftir the forme and tennoure of the said infeftment grantit to the said umquhile Charlis Murray of Cokpule and his airis foirsaidis of the samin perpetualie in all tyme cuming, but stop or impediment.
