Commissioun anent the brig of Cramound

31. The quhilk day oure soverane lord and estaittis of parliament, understanding that sen the decay and dounfalling of the brig of Over Crammound, not onlie his hienes lieges in passing and returning to the burgh of Edinburgh, being the place quhair the lordis of his hienes secrete counsaill, sessioun and justice for the maist pairt makis thair residence for administratioun of justice, ar oft and divers tymes be the watter of Awmond (quhilk suddantlie rysis in great abundance) in perrell of thair lyves, bot lykwayes sindrie hes perischeit thairin; for remede quhairof and of the inconvenientis may fall out in tyme cumming throw the decay of the said brig of Cramound, oure said soverane lord and estaittis foirsaidis hes gevin and grantit, lyk as be the tennoure heirof, giffis and grantis full power and commissioun to the lordis of secrete counsaill to sett doun sum solide ordour that thair be ane brig biggit quhair the former brig wes biggit of befoir upoun the said watter of Almond, or in the maist convenient pairt narrest that place for serveing as ane passage to his hienes subjectis, thair gudis and geir over the said watter in tyme cumming; and quhatsumevir act and ordinance the saidis lordis of secrete counsaill sall mak, devyse and ordane for the bigging of the said brig of Crawmond, the saidis estaittis of parliament, now as gif the samin act and ordinance wer maid, and than as now, ratefeis and appreves the samyn, and decernis and declaris the samin act and ordinance to be als valide and effectuall in the self as gif the samin had bene maid in this present parliament and ane act maid thairupoun.
