Act in favouris of the burgh of Craill
14. Oure soverane lord, with advyse of the estaittis and haill bodie of this present parliament, ratefeis, appreves and perpetualie confermes the ancient liberteis, fredomes and privileges maid and grantit be oure soverane lord or ony of his hienes predecessouris to, and in favouris of, the burgh of Craill, bailleis, counsaill, burgeses, comunitie and inhabitantis of the samyn burgh of Craill; and forsamekill as the ordinar oulklie marcat day gevin to the said towne of Craill of auld wes appointit to be ane Sonday, whilk now is abrogat and dischargeit be actis of parliament and lawes of this realme, thairfoir, in place thairof, oure said soverane lord and estaittis foirsaidis hes nominat, gevin, grantit and confermit to the said burgh of Craill in all tyme cumming ane ordinar oulklie marcat day, to be keipit and haldin thairintill oulklie on Fryday. And als in consideratioun that the ordinarie fair yearlie haldin within the said burgh of Craill and grantit thairto of auld wes haldin and keipit upoun the fourtene day of September, callit Rudday, whilk fair, inrespect of the harvest, wes in effect unproffitable to the said burgh, his majestie and estaittis foirsaidis hes thairfoir of new gevin, grantit and perpetualie confermit to the said burgh in all tyme heireftir full power, privilege and libertie of ane uther frie fair to be haldin and begun yearlie within the said burgh of Craill upoun the tent day of Marche and to indure for the space of aucht dayes nixt thaireftir, togidder with all customes, immuniteis, privileges, proffeittis, casualiteis and dueteis pertening to ane frie fair to be proclamit, keipit and defendit be the magistrattis, burgeses and inhabitantis of the said burgh, siclyk and als frelie in all respectis as ony uther burgh ar and hes bene in use to do in lyk caises; and ordinis lettres of publicatioun to be direct heirupoun gif neid beis in forme as effeiris.
