Oure soverane lord and estaittis of parliament presentlie convenit ratifeis, apprevis and confermis the chartour and infeftment under the great seall maid and grantit be his hienes, with advyse and consent of his majesteis commissionaris and lordis of chekker, to his trustie and familiar counsaillour Maister James Elphingstoun of Barntoun, ane of the senatouris of the college of justice, now Lord of Balmirrinoch, and his airis maill and tailyie thairin specefeit, of all and haill the landis of Ouer Barntoun, with the tour, fortalice, manerplace, tennentis, tenandreis, service of frie tennentis and all thair pertinentis, lyand within the baronie of Barntoun and schirefdome of Edinburgh, contening clause de novo damus and dispositioun of the foirsaidis landis, and landis of Craigschott, Blakleithie, Muresyd and Kingis Medow and Mure of Cramond, with advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of the personage and vicarage of the kirk and parochin of Cramond, dissolvit fra the bischoprik of Dunkeld and unite to the saidis landis of Overbarntoun, as the said chartour of the date at Faulkland, the ellevint day of August, the yeir of God jM vC fourscoir sevintene yeiris, at mair lenth proportis; and siclyk ane uther chartour and infeftment under the great seall maid and grantit be oure soverane lord to the said Schir James Elphingstoun of Barntoun, knycht, his hienes secretar, in lyfrent for all the dayes of his lyfetyme, and to James Elphingstoun, his eldest lauchfull sone gottin betuix him and Dame Marjorie Maxwell, his spous, and his airis maill and of tailyie thairin specefeit heretablie, off all and haill the landis callit the Maynis of Ballumbie, with tour, fortalice, manerplace, houses, biggingis, yairdis, orchardin, pairtis, pendiclis and pertinentis thairof, and alsua of the Myln of Ballumbie, with mylnlandis, multuris and pertinentis thairof, lyand within the schirefdome of Forfar, with advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of the personage and vicarage of the paroch kirk of Barry, with the vicarage pensionarie of the samyn; and siclyk of all and haill the landis of Innerpeffer with pairtis, pendiclis, annexis, connexis, dependances, tennentis, tennandreis and service of frie tennentis of the samyn lyand within the said schirefdome of Forfar; togidder with the advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of the kirk and parochin of Monyfuth, personage and vicarage thairof, and personage and vicarage of Ballumbie, with all proffeittis and commoditeis of the samyn, contening ane clause of de novo damus of the foirsaidis landis, myln, patronages and utheris abonewrittin; togidder alsua with the advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of the kirk and parochin of Auchterhouse, personage and vicarage thairof, being ane of oure soverane lordis commoun kirkis, as at mair lenth also is contenit in the said last chartour of the date the tuentie thrid day of August jM vjC and twa yeiris, in all and sindrie heidis, pointis, clauses and articlis contenit in the samin twa chartouris and ilkane of them. And oure said soverane lord and estaittis foirsaidis declaris that the foirsaidis twa chartouris and infeftmentis sall stand in all tyme heireftir in full strenth and vigour, and sall be effectuall to the said James, lord of Balmirrenoch and his said sone, thair airis maill and of talyie thairin mentionat and thair successouris, for bruiking and joising of the foirsaidis landis, mylnis, patronages and utheris particularlie specefeit in the saidis twa chartouris and infeftmentis eftir the formes and tennour thairof in all pointis, and the samyn to be in all tyme cumming unrevocable and unretreatable ony maner of way quhatsumevir, and to be alse valiable and sufficient as gif the samyn twa chartouris had bene at lenth word be word ingrossit heirintill.
