Procedure: Lord Fyvie's proposal to continue parliament; asking of instruments
And thaireftir Alexander, lord Fyvie, chancellar of this parliament, haveing proponit to the saidis haill estaittis than convenit gif they micht continew this present parliament conforme to the kingis grace letter, except that as they come to the tolbuth upoun the xxvj day of Aprile last bipast berand the sword, crowne and sceptour, with the rest of the honouris and solemniteis useit in tyme bigane at the halding of all parliamentis within this realme, they lykwayes suld cum to the tolbuth berand the saidis honouris befoir they micht continew this present parliament, and gif they think it expedient to be done or nocht.

The foirsaidis haill estaittis, being advysit with the foirsaid propositioun and demand proponit be the said Lord Fyvie, chancellar, they all in ane voce votit, fand and declarit that they micht continew the said parliament conforme to the kingis majesteis letter without the bering of ony honouris, seing the parliament wes nocht endit nor concludit, and that presentlie thair wes na actis, ordinances nor constitutionis to be votit and concludit upoun quhilk requiris the beiring the honouris and utheris solemniteis to be done befoir the samin may be votit be the estaittis. Upoun the quhilk declaratioun the said lord secretar and Schir Thomas Hamyltoun, advocat to oure soverane lord, askit instrumentis.
