Protestatioun of James Geddy, burges of Carraill

2The quhilk day, in presence of oure soverane lord and thre estaittis of parliament, comperit James Geddy, burges of the burgh of Carraill, and thair, in name and behalf of the same burgh, protestit solempnitlie that the erectioun, creatioun and confirmatioun of the burgh of Anstruder in ane frie burgh royall suld onnawyse be hurtfull or prejudiciall to the said burgh of Carraill anent the richtis, liberties and privileges of the same, bot that thai mycht be hard to propone thair richtis, ressonis and defensis quhensoevir thai or thair successouris suld happin to persew thair rycht, and als that thai mycht be hard to use thair remeid competent befoir the estaittis at the nixt parliament, or utherwyse quhen oportunitie of tyme suld be offerit; and thairupoun askit actis and instrumentis.
