The benefite of pacificatioun grantit to Williame Melvill, burges of Edinburgh

Oure soverane lord, of his speciall grace, with avise and consent of the thrie estatis of this present parliament, for wechtie and guid considerationis tending to the establissing of peax and quietnes and universall obedience of his hienes auctoritie within this realme, hes gevin and grantit to William Melvill, burges of Edinburghe, the like favour, grace and benefite of pacificatioun maid and accordit upoun at the burgh of Perthe, the xxiij day of Februare the yeir of God j^M v^C lxxij yeris, and ratefeit and apprevit sensyne in his hienes parliament in the moneth of Aprill, the yeir of God j^M v^C lxxiij yeris, and declaris the samyn pacificatioun to be als largelie and favorablie extendit and interprete in the favouris of the said Williame, for the suirtie of him and bruking of his leving, honouris, offices, rowmes and possessionis, as gif he had bene speciallie nominat and comprehendit thairin, or as gif the haill articles, clausis and conditionis thairof wer heirin expreslie specefeit. And for his better securitie, our said soverane lord, with advise foirsaid, hes ratefeit and apprevit and, be the tennour heirof, ratefeis and apprevis the foirsaid benefite of pacificatioun gevin and grantit to the said Williame in maner abonexpremit, in all pointis, efter the forme and tenour thairof, and declaris the samyn to have full strenthe, force and effect in tyme cumming, and extendis the samyn pacificatioun to him as the samyn is extendit of befoir to ony uther persoun or personis obtenaris of the like benefite; providing alwayis that the samyn be not extendit to the murthouris of our soverane lordis darrest father and tua regentis, nor to the crymis of wichecraft and incest, bot that the samyn be speciallie and expreslie exceptit, and ordinis the lordis of counsell to be directit heirupoun, gif neid beis, in forme as effeiris.
