Revocatioun of the infeftment of the erldome of Lennox to Lord Charlis

Oure soverane lord, with avise of his thrie estaitis of this present parliament, for his hienes and his successouris, ratifeis, apprevis and confirmis the revocatioun of all maner of giftis, infeftmentis, presentationis or dispositionis quhatsumevir maid in oure soverane lordis name be his regentis for the tyme in his hienes minoritie and les aige to umquhile Chairlis, erle of Lennox, and his airis quhatsumevir of the heritable gift of the erldome of Lennox, lordship of Dernlie, barony of Torboltoun and of all utheris landis, lordschippis, baronyis, castellis, towris, fortalices, maner places, mylnis, multuris, woddis, fischeingis, offices and of the office of schirefdome of Dumbertane, with tennentis, tennendriis and service of frie tennentis, advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of kirkis, benefices and chaiplanriis and all thair pertinentis mentionat thairintill in all the heidis, clauses and articles of the samin, of the quhilk revocation maid be his heines, with avise of the lordis of his secreit counsale for the tyme, the tennour followis:

We, James, be the grace of God, king of Scottis, undirstanding the privilege of the commoun law, actis and statutis of oure realme, providit and gevin to the successouris of all maner of personis to revoik caus and annull all thingis done be thame in thair yowtheid and les aige to thair damnage and skayth in thair heritages be imprudent alienationis, donationis and venditionis thairof, and that they may revoik the samin, we, thairfoir, for certane greit and ressounable cause moving us, having respect to the commoditie of oure croun, posterite and commoun weill of oure realme, be the advise of the lordis of oure secreit counsale, have revoikit and, be the tennour heirof, revoikis all maner of giftis, infeftmentis, presentationis and dispositionis quhatsumevir maid in oure name, be oure regentis for the tyme in oure minoritie and les aige, to umquhile our dearest cousing and uncle Chairlis, erle of Lennox and his airis quhatsumevir, of the heritable gift of the erldome of Lennox, lordschip of Dernlie, barony of Torboltoun and with all the landis, lordschippis, baronyes, castellis, towris, fortalices, maner places, mlynis, multuris, woddis, fischeingis, offices and in speciall of the schirefdome of Dumbertane, tennendriis and service of frie tennentis, advocatioun, donatioun and richt of patronage of kirkis, benefices and chaiplanriis pertening thairto, and all thair pertinentis, and alsua the said office of the schirefschip of Dumbertane in sa fer as it is disponit in oure minoritie to James Galbraith of Kilcruich in maner foirsaid; and siclike revoikis case and annullis the infeftment maid to oure said umquhile dearest cousing and uncle of the landis of Cruikisfie, with castell, fortalice and myln of the samyn, the landis of Inchechynnane, with the maner place and palace of the samyne, the landis of Perthakschot with the myln of the same, with tennentis, tennendriis and service of frie tennentis of the samin and thair pertinentis liand within oure baronyis of Renfrew and schirefdome of the same; and siclike revoikis the infeftment gevin to oure said umquhile dearest cousignne of the landis of Gonnachane and Bellagane, sumtyme pertening to the Blak Freiris of Glasgw, togidder with all maner of dispositionis, giftis, assignationis or uther maner of titillis maid to quhatsumevir uther personis be us, with avise of oure saidis regentis, of any part of the saidis erldome and lordschippis and utheris abonewrittin falling and belonging to us be richt and successioun as nearest and lauchfull air and successour of oure umquhile maist dear father and gudesir or utheris thair predicessouris last lauchfull heritable possessouris of the samyn erldome, lordschippis and utheris foirsaidis, togidder with all assignationis of reversionis of quhatsumevir oure saidis predicessouris landis and leving, or ony part thairof, maid and assignit to us and oure regentis in oure name to oure said umquhile dearest cousing or ony utheris; and this we will salbe extendit in als ample forme as ony utheris revocationis maid be oure said maist noble progenitouris, kingis of Scotland, in ony tymes bigane, and ordanis the samyn to be ratifeit and apprevit in oure nixt parliament, protesting solempnitlie suppois we, of oure favour and benevolence, suffer ony persone or personis to use and posseid ony privilege or possessioun of landis and offices fallin undir this oure revocatioun, it sall mak na richt to the usaris or haldaris thairof, bot it salbe lefull to us to put to oure handis thairto quhenevir it sall pleis us, but ony further process be vertew of this oure revocatioun, subscrivit with oure hand at oure castell of Striveling, the thrid day of Maii and of oure regnne the ellevint yeir 1578.
