²Item, it is statute and ordanit be oure soverane lord, with avise of his thrie estaitis in parliament, that all contractis, obligationes, reversiones, assignationes and discharges of reversiones or eikis thairto, and generalie all writtis importing heritable title or utheris bandis and obligationes of greit importance to be maid in tyme cuming, salbe subscrivit and seillit be the principall pairtiis, gif they can subscrive, utherwayis be twa famous notaris befoir foure famous witnesses denominat be thair speciall dwelling places or sum uther evident takens, that the witnesses be knawin be present at that tyme, otherwyis the saidis writtis to mak na fayth.
