Anent the jurisdictioun of the kirk, cap. 2
2Oure soverane lord, with advise of the thrie estaitis of this present parliament, hes declarit and grantit jurisdictioun to the kirk, quhilk consistis and standis in the preacheing of the trew word of Jesus Chryst, correctioun of maneris and administracioun of the haly sacramentis; and declaris that thair is na uther face of kirk nor uther face of religioun then is presentlie, be the favour of God, establishit within this realme, and that thair be na uther jurisdictioun ecclesiasticall acknawlegit within this realme uther then that quhilk is and salbe within the samyne kirk, or that quhilk flowis thairfra concering the premisis. And further oure soverane lord, with avise of the thrie estaitis, hes gevin and gevis full power and commissioun to the noble and michty lordis efter following: that is to say, James, erle of Mortoune, lord of Dalkeyth, Colyne, erle of Ergile, lord Campbell and Lorne, chancellair, Andro, erle of Rothes, lord Leslie, Robert, erle of Buquhane, lord Glendowachy, Patrik, archebischop of Sanctandrois, Robert, commendatair of Dumfermling, Mark, commendatair of Newbottill, Robert, commendatair of Deir, Alexander, commendatair of Culross, Johnne Erskyne of Dune, superintendent of Angus, Maister Johnne Spottiswod, superintendent of Lowthiane, Maisteris Johnne Craig, James Lausoun and David Lyndsay, ministeris, and Alexander Hay, clerk of register, to convene in Edinburgh the xj day of Aprile nixtocum, quhilk is the morne efter Law Sonday nixtocum, to searche furth mair specialie and to consider quhat uther speciall poyntis or clausis sould appertene to the jurisdictioun, privilege and auctoritie of the said kirk, and to report thair declaratioun thairanent to oure soverane lord and thrie estatis of this parliament, swa that they may tak ordour thairintill and authorize the samyne be act of parliament as salbe found aggreable to the word of God.
