Anent the Erle Ergyle and certane utheris noblemen

Becaus this act and ordinance is generallie extendit to all deidis sen oure soverane lordis coronatioune, as also the same is extendit to all personis quha at ony tyme befoir this tyme have assistit to the contrarie auctorite, howbeit, be act of parliament haldin at Striveling in September, the yeir of God jM vC lxxj yeris, Archibald, erle of Ergile, Hew, erle of Eglintoun, Gilbert, erll of Cassillis, Robert, lord Boyd and ane certane space thaireftir Johnne, lord Maxwell and Johnne, lord Hereis acknawlegit oure soverane lordis auctoritie and wer ressavit in favour; thairfoir, that it be providit in the act now to be maid that the same be na maner of way derogative or prejudiciall to the said appunctment, takin with the saidis noblemen and every ane of thame for thame selffis, thair friendis, kynnismen, servandis, assisteris and partakers of before, bot that the same remane in the awin strenth and force, ratifiand and apprevand the samyn be thir presentis. And forder, that notwithstanding the said act now to be maid, or ony uther law or constitution in the contrair, it may be providit and statute that the saidis noblemen, thair freindis, kynsmen, servandis, assisteris and partakers sall nevir be callit, arreistit, troublit or persewit, criminallie or civilie, for ony fact or deid committit be thame, or ony of thame,2 assistance gevin be thame to ony oure soverane lordis innymeis,3 othir aganis oure soverane lordis auctoritie or ony uther particulair persoune, throw thair assistence in the commoune cause of mantenance of the contrair auctoritie or ony thing depending thair upoune at ony tyme before thair acknawleging of oure soverane lordis auctoritie, bot that thay, thair airis and successouris salbe fre, exonerit and acquite of all actioun and clame, criminale or civile, quhilk in ony maner of way may be competent to oure said soverane lord or his subjectis aganis the saidis personis; and to discharge the lordis of sessioun, the justice and all utheris jugeis in communi forma, 4and that conforme to thair remissionis and appoyntment maid thairupon.5
