Procedure: continuation of parliament; asking of instruments

The which day, the lords commissioners aforesaid continue this present parliament and all actions, causes, summonses, supplications, petitions and articles whatsoever to be therein treated until Wednesday next, being 25 July, at the which day ordain the whole estates of parliament to attend and await James [Hamilton], marquis of Hamilton, earl of Arran and Cambridge, lord Aven and Innerdale etc., his majesty's commissioner, with all due reverence, in manner used to others having the like charge of before, and to abide until the said parliament end under the pains contained in the acts of parliament; and ordain publication to be made of this present continuation at the market cross of Edinburgh; whereupon [Sir William Oliphant of Newton], his highness's advocate, in his majesty's name, asked instruments.
