Ratification to [Sir James Lockhart], laird of Lee of his infeftment of the barony of Lee

Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament, having respect to the manifold good, true and thankful services done to his highness by his majesty's well-beloved and obedient subject Sir James Lockhart of Lee, knight, have ratified and approved and, by the tenor hereof, ratify and approve the infeftment made and given by his majesty under his highness's great seal of the date 18 July 1607, to Jane Auchinleck, spouse to the said Sir James Lockhart, then styled James Lockhart of Lee, in liferent during all the days of her lifetime, of certain lands therein contained within the barony of Lee, and to the said Sir James Lockhart of Lee and his male heirs lawfully procreated or to be procreated of his body, which failing, to the said Sir James's nearest and lawful male heirs whatsoever of the surname of Lockhart, accepting and bearing the arms of the house of Lee, their heirs and successors heritably, of all and whole the lands and barony of Lee and Cartland, with castles, towers, fortalices, manor places, houses, buildings, yards, orchards, mills, multures and of certain annualrents therein specified, and of certain other lands annexed thereto, all united in the said infeftment in a whole and free barony to be called the barony of Lee; and also of all and whole the advocation, donation and right of patronage of the Lady Altar situated in St Nicholas chapel within the burgh of Lanark, and of the erection of the town of Cartland, lying within the said barony of Lee, in a free burgh of barony, with the whole privileges and immunities thereof and others therein contained, lying within the sheriffdom of Lanark, in all and sundry points, privileges, heads, articles, gifts, donations, clauses and circumstances whatsoever specified and contained therein. And his majesty and estates foresaid of this present parliament will, grant, declare, statute and ordain that the said Sir James Lockhart of Lee, knight, his male heirs and successors foresaid, shall peaceable and freely possess, hold and enjoy all and sundry the foresaid lands, barony, castles, towers, fortalices, manor places, mills, multures, annualrents, burgh of barony, advocation, donation and right of patronage of the foresaid altarage and others particularly and generally expressed in the said infeftment, with all their pertinents, privileges and commodities thereof, after the form and tenor of the foresaid infeftment, privileges and immunities therein contained in all respects in all time coming, without stop or impediment, and that this present general ratification and approbation of the said infeftment shall be of as great efficacy, force, strength and effect to the said Sir James Lockhart of Lee and his foresaids in all respects and conditions, as if the same were at length word by word engrossed herein.
