Ratification to [Ludovic Stewart], duke of Lennox of the dukedom of Lennox and regality thereof

Our sovereign lord and estates of this present parliament ratify and approve the infeftment granted under his majesty's great seal to and in favour of his highness's dearest cousin and councillor Ludovic, duke of Lennox, earl of Darnley, lord Tarbolton, Methven and d'Aubigny etc., great admiral and chamberlain of this realm of Scotland, and to his male heirs therein mentioned, whereby our said sovereign lord, with advice and consent of his highness's treasurer, comptroller and treasurer of his highness's new augmentations for the time, has given, granted and conveyed to his said dearest cousin and his male heirs therein contained all and whole the dukedom, earldom, lordship, barony and regality of Lennox, with free chapel and chancellery, and with all immunities, privileges and liberties of regality, comprehending therein the lands, lordships, baronies, offices and others particularly and generally therein contained, as well property, tenancy as superiority of the same, with castles, towers, fortalices, manor places, houses, buildings, yards, orchards, meadows, mills, woods, fishings, tenants, tenancies and service of free tenants, advocations, donations and rights of patronages of kirks, chaplainries, benefices, annexes, connexes, dependents of all and sundry the foresaid dukedom, earldom, lordships, baronies, offices, regality and others particularly and generally mentioned in the said charter, all thereby united, annexed, created and incorporated in a whole and free dukedom, earldom, lordship and barony and regality to the said Ludovic, duke of Lennox, and his male heirs therein mentioned, to be called in all time coming the dukedom, earldom, lordship, barony and regality of Lennox, with privilege of free chapel and chancellery, and ordaining the place of Inchmurrin to be the principal messuage of the said dukedom. And in like manner our said sovereign lord, as father and lawful administrator, tutor and governor of his highness's dearest son Henry, prince and stewart of Scotland, has by the foresaid charter given, granted and conveyed to his highness's dearest cousin Ludovic, duke of Lennox and his male heirs foresaid, all and sundry the lands of Cruikissie and Darnley with the castle, fortalice and mill of the same; the lands of Inchinnan with the manor place and palace thereof and their pertinents; the west half of the lands and mains of Inchinnan extending to [...] merk land of old extent with the pertinents; all and whole the lands called Newshot lying within the flood mark near to Inchinnan; the lands of Parthinscott with the mill of the same; the lands of Dargavel with the castles, towers, fortalices, woods, mills, fishings, tenants, tenancies, service of free tenants of the same and all their pertinents lying within the barony and sheriffdom of Renfrew; all and sundry the lands and barony of Tarbolton, extending to a hundred pound land of old extent, with the woods, mills, fishings, tenants, tenancies and service of free tenants, advocation, donation and right of patronage of kirks and chaplainries of the same and all their pertinents; the lands of Galston with the tower, fortalice, manor place, mills, tenants, tenancies, service of free tenants, advocation, donation and right of patronage of kirks and chaplainries of the same and all their pertinents, extending to a forty merk land of old extent; and the lands of Dreghorn, extending to a twenty merk land of old extent, with the pertinents, lying within the sheriffdom of Ayr. Likewise his majesty, as father and lawful administrator foresaid to his highness's said dearest son the prince, has united, annexed, created and incorporated the foresaid whole lands, baronies and others immediately before mentioned in a whole and free earldom and free regality, with free chapel and chancellery and with all privileges, immunities, honours, dignities, casualties, profits and commodities whatsoever belonging and pertaining to a free earldom and free regality, chapel and chancellery to the said lord duke of Lennox and his male heirs foresaid, to be called the earldom and regality of Darnley in all time coming, as the said charter and infeftment containing diverse other clauses, privileges and immunities, of the date at Holyroodhouse, 21 February 1603, at more length purport, together with all and sundry other charters, infeftments, rights, titles and securities made and granted by his majesty in favour of his highness's said dearest cousin Ludovic, duke of Lennox, his heirs and assignees therein designed, of all and whole the said dukedom, earldom, lordships, baronies and regality of Lennox, and of the whole castles, towers, fortalices, offices, mills, woods, fishings and others whatsoever comprehended therein, and of the said earldom and regality of Darnley and others whatsoever comprehended therein, of whatsoever date or dates the same be of, in all and sundry the heads, clauses, conditions, articles, provisions, liberties, immunities, privileges and circumstances whatsoever specified and contained in the said infeftments and charters, both specially and generally above-mentioned, after the forms and tenors of the same and whole privileges therein mentioned in all points, ordaining this general ratification to be as valid, effectual and sufficient to his highness's said dearest cousin Ludovic, duke of Lennox, his male heirs and assignees mentioned in the said charters as if the foresaid particular charter and infeftment made and granted by his majesty in his favour in manner above-mentioned, and all other charters made and granted by his highness to him at any time bygone preceding the day and date of this ratification of the dukedom, earldom, lordships, baronies, regalities and others, both specially and generally above-mentioned, were specially inserted herein word by word, and ratified hereby in particular.
