Procedure: preamble

The parliament of the most powerful and invincible prince James, by the grace of God, king of Great Britain, France and Ireland, defender of the faith, held in Edinburgh on 18 March in the year of the Lord 1607 by the most powerful earl John [Graham], earl of Montrose, lord Graham and Mugdock, by virtue of the commission dated at Hampton Court on 8 February in the year of the Lord 1604 and granted to the said earl under the great seal of the realm of Scotland, and by the commissioners named below, namely Alexander [Seton], earl of Dunfermline, chancellor, James [Hamilton], earl of Abercorn, David [Lindsay], bishop of Ross, Walter [Stewart], lord of Blantyre, John [Bothwell], commendator of Holyroodhouse, Kenneth MacKenzie of Kintail, David Herring of Lethendy, John Robertson and George Heriot [of Ravelston] for the burgh of Edinburgh, together with Archibald Bald for the marischal, Alexander Stobo for the constable, and John Yellowlees for the sheriff, and Andrew White, dempster. Suits were called and the court affirmed.
